Sobelman's Pub and Grill boasts Milwaukee's best burger

Apr 8, 2010

Bought with hopes of serving up the best burger in Milwaukee, Dave and Melanie Sobelman puchased a restaurant located in one of Milwaukee's original Schlitz taverns. Close to downtown Milwaukee but located in a industrial hub of warehouses and factory workers, the surroundings are  all part of the truly comfortable Sobelman's experience.

Great burgers, however, are the main draw. Most famous and highly popular is the Sobelman. Created as a burger to quickly share with his wife after the lunch hour rush, Dave stacked a 1/3rd pound beef patty with three cheeses--American, Swiss and cheddar-- fried onions, jalapeno relish and bacon. Surprised by it's bountiful taste, they offered it to customers and it remains the tavern's best seller. Both regular and often times grass-fed beef are offered, with the grass-fed beef costing $2 more per burger.

Sobelman's fans claim that one of the great attributes of the burgers are the buttery, homemade buns that are able to sustain all of the toppings without sog or sag. Along with the bun, the offering of Wisconsin's own Spotted Cow beer on tap is another crowd pleaser.

While there are other delights--tripple cheeseburgers, a BLT burger, fried chicekn breast, and fried fish, to name a few, the reason to make a trip to this popular tavern is indeed the burger. Popular, too, for an incredibly friendly staff, Sobelman's is mobbed at lunch hour and weekend nights. Waits are short and most diners enjoy sitting at the bar until their table is called. Family friendly with moderate prices Sobelman's is a great spot whether it be for meeting friends, a casual date or a family outing. Go there hungry because you'll want to devour every last bite of your burger.
